Introduction: We aimed to understand the effectiveness of developmental group approach focusing on the role of communication skills in patients with multiple sclerosis. Methodology: In this experimental intervention study, by using random sampling, 66 female patients with MS were selected to participate in the intervention and control groups. The demographic and life skills questionnaires were applied in pre-test and post-test among both groups. SPSS 18 was used to analyze the data through statistical analysis tests chi-square, t-test, ANOVA. Results: The results showed that the mean score for communication skills in intervention and control groups were respectively, 20 ± 87/64 and 8/18 ± 33/63. Using the T-test, there was a significant difference between intervention and control groups (p = 0.006). Conclusions: This study highlighted that developmental group social work focusing on the role of interpersonal communication skills can lead to improving the MS patients’ lives. This model can be useful in working with MS patients among social workers.
