The Influence of Group Social Work Intervention with Cognitive Behavioral Approach on Mental Health of Divorced Women

Introduction: Divorce is one of the social damage that they decrease in one's mental health. Therefore interventions in individual psychotherapy especially divorced women as vulnerable groups of society can be useful. The purpose of this study the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral group work on the mental health of women is absolute.
Methods: It is an experimental study, having control and experimental groups. In this study, a behavioral-cognitive social work intervention was performed on 28 divorced women who were in the social area of the 20th region in Tehran. The subjects filled out Goldberg and Hiller Questionnaire of well-being. They were then divided into two control and experimental group. 8 session of behavioral-cognitive social working was held for the experimental group. All the subjects refilled out the Goldberg and Hiller Questionnaire of well-being in the post-exam stage. The data were analyzed with SPSS 16 and Co-variance test.
Results: the Findings showed that the group behavioral-cognitive social work influenced the well-being of divorced women and it led to a decrease in physical signs, anxiety, social functioning, and depression.
Conclusions: group behavioral-cognitive social work is an appropriate way of increasing the psychological well-being of divorced women. Knowing the high prevalence of divorce and its psychological after-effects, it is suggested that the mentioned method be used for decreasing the psychological effects of divorce.
