TY - JOUR JF - socialwm JO - Socialworkmag VL - 6 IS - 4 PY - 2018 Y1 - 2018/3/01 TI - The Role of Loneliness in Predicting of General Health in Mothers of Students with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities TT - نقش احساس تنهایی در پیش‌بینی سلامت عمومی مادران دانش‌آموزان با ناتوانی‌های عصبی-تحولی N2 - Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the role of loneliness in predicting general health in mother of students with neurodevelopmental disabilities in Shiraz. Methods: Method of this study was correlational descriptive. The statistical population of the present study includes all mothers of students with neurodevelopmental disabilities of Shiraz city during 2014-2015 educational years. The sample size was equal to one hundred thirty-five mothers of students with neurodevelopmental disabilities and sampling method was purposeful sampling. The Goldberg's general health questionnaire was administered to assess the general health and Dehshiri, Borjali, Sheykhi and Habibi's loneliness scale were administered to assess the loneliness. The statistical methods of Pearson correlation and simultaneous multiple regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. Results: Results indicated that loneliness associated with the friends were significant and positive predictors of somatic symptoms, anxiety symptoms and social dysfunction symptoms. (P<0.01) Loneliness associated with the family were significant and positive predictors of social dysfunction symptoms and depression symptoms. (P<0.01) Affective loneliness were significant and positive predictors of somatic symptoms, anxiety symptoms, social dysfunction symptoms, and depression symptoms. (P<0.01) Conclusions: Loneliness could predict the general health of mothers of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. So designing and implementing preventive and interventions programs to improve loneliness in mothers of students with neurodevelopmental disabilities are necessary to improve general health in mothers of students with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
