The Effect of Life Skills Training on Psychological Capital and Adaptability of Adolescent Girls with Irresponsible Parents

Introduction: Some studies have confirmed the importance of life skills training on psychological problems. In recent years, new structures have been proposed, such as adaptations and psychological capital. For this purpose this study aim to determine the effect of life skills training on psychological capital and adaptability among adolescent girls with irresponsible parents of Dehloran city.
Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental study whit a pretest-posttest and a control group. The study population consisted of all adolescent girls with irresponsible parents in Dehloran. using simple random sampling method thirty girls were selected and placed in two experimental and control groups. (n=15 per group) Subjects in the experimental group received ten sessions of life skills training. (sixty minutes for two months and a half) Both groups were measured by using psychological questionnaires capital Luthans 2007 and the California Personality Test 1953 as the pre-test and post-test. For the analysis of data multivariate analysis of covariance was used by SPSS19.
Results: Based on the results of multivariate analysis of covariance, life skills training leads to increase in psychological capital (self-efficacy, hope, resiliency and optimism) and adaptability (personal and social) in the experimental group. (P<0.01)
Conclusions: It seems that life skills can be used as an intervention method for improving psychological capital and adaptability of adolescent girls with irresponsible parents.
