Introduction: The psychological well-being of adolescents is a significant challenge today. According to the World Health Organization, 20% of teenagers experience emotional and behavioral issues. Given the long-term consequences of these problems and the high costs associated with their treatment, it is essential to implement effective therapeutic interventions. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of metallization-based therapy on the interpersonal sensitivity of adolescents facing emotional and behavioral problems.

Methods:  The research utilized a semi-experimental design that included a pre-test, a post-test, a control group, and a follow-up period. The statistical population consisted of female teenagers aged fifteen to eighteen in Isfahan city. A total of forty teenagers were selected through purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. To gather data, an Interpersonal Sensitivity Questionnaire developed by Boyce and Parker in 1989 was used. The results were analyzed using a mixed analysis of variance with repeated measures, followed by an LSD post hoc test.

Results: The results indicated a significant difference in interpersonal sensitivity scores between the experimental and control groups during the post-test phase (p < 0.05). When examining the sub-scales, we observed significant changes in interpersonal awareness, shyness, and fragile self-esteem at the post-test stage. In the follow-up phase, although the scores for all three sub-scales decreased, no significant differences were found between the post-test and follow-up scores. This suggests that the results were maintained over time.

Conclusions: Treatment based on metallization is recommended to enhance interpersonal awareness, boost self-esteem, reduce shyness, and decrease interpersonal sensitivity among adolescent girls.
