Introduction: Divorce has psychological effects on individuals and families and is a complex phenomenon with various factors. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy in managing emotions and anxiety sensitivity among women considering divorce in Lahijan.
Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test setup, involving both experimental and control groups. The study aimed to investigate women on the brink of divorce in Lahijan. Thirty women were randomly selected from this population and assigned to two groups of fifteen. The experimental group underwent ten ninety-minute sessions of acceptance and commitment therapy, while the control group did not receive any training. Both groups completed the Emotion Control and Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using analysis of covariance.
Results: Based on the research findings, it has been observed that there is a notable distinction between the training and control groups in terms of negative emotions and anxiety sensitivity. In simpler terms, the training centered around acceptance and commitment has diminished the management of emotions and anxiety sensitivity in women on the brink of divorce.
Conclusions: According to the results, the treatment based on acceptance and commitment to control the emotions and anxiety sensitivity of women on the verge of divorce is effective. This treatment can be used to help women in controlling their emotions and anxiety sensitivity during this challenging time.
