The Effectiveness of Group Social Work Intervention with Cognitive Approach on Interpersonal Relationship and Marital Intimacy among Married Students

Introduction: Intimacy is the main issue in couple relationships. The couples would have taken the biggest step toward intimacy if their interpersonal relationship had been established correctly. This study identifies the effectiveness of the cognitive approach group social work intervention in improving interpersonal communication and increasing intimacy among married students in Meybod. 
Methods: The research design was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test and a control group. The statistical population consisted of all married students in Meybod in the academic year of 2018-2019. The purposeful sampling method was used to select the sample, and thirty-two married students were selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Marital intimacy and interpersonal relationships questionnaires were used to collect data. The results were analyzed by a multivariate covariance analysis test.
Results: The results showed that social work intervention with a cognitive approach has a significant effect on improving interpersonal relationships and increasing marital intimacy of married students.(P≤ 0.001)
Conclusions: According to the results, it could be concluded that using this approach possibly helps married students with fewer problems in marital life and increased the quality of interpersonal communication so they can carry on with their student life.
